Phuchkas are known to be the king of Kolkata street food. It is same like Gol-Gappa of Delhi and UP and Pani Puri of Mumbai.
Telebhaja is made up of vegetables like pumpkin, potato, onions, eggplants, cauliflower etc. Bengalis usually fry any vegetable by coating it with Besan. This recipe is mouth-watering and very delicious to taste.
• Kathi Rolls
You can say that Kothi Rolls are first invented in Kolkata. The filling inside the chapattis vary from shop to shop. Usually the fillings are made up of meat, fish, beef, chicken, lamb and vegetables.
• Ghugni Chat
Made from boiled yellow or white peas, Ghugni is what Mumbaikars fondly call Ragda. Ghugni and Ragda are more or less the same, be sure to mix it lots of sweet tamarind chutney.
• Jhal Muri
Jhal Muri is one of the most famous and omnipresent Bengali streets snacks. In every half kilometer you will find a vendor of Jhal Muri.
It is made up with puffed rice, fried dal, peanuts, random crunchy things, fresh chopped onions, a few bits of fresh tomatoes, coriander, a handful of masala seasonings, and a light drizzle of mustard oil to top things off.
• Veg Chow
Yes, in Kolkata Veg Chow is very popular. Famously known as Veg Chow, it is just like noodles, mixed with seasonal vegetables.
Shingara is a Bengali version of Samosa. They are baked or fried with stuffing of potatoes, peas and cauliflower. For non-vegetarians Shingara stuffing changes with minced meat. Shingara is usually served with tea.
• Fish Finger/Cutlet
Fish is the most favourite ingredients of Bengalis and so they are mad for it. Fish finger is another popular street food of Kolkata, widely eaten by the people.
• Mishti Doi
Except Kolkata, no other place can provide you the real taste of Mishti Doi. It is a sweet curd, which is yummy delicious creamy, no words to describe it other.
